Composition of the Forum after the election

The 2028 Gandoor Forum Election was held on Saturday, 6 July 2028. The election was the 32nd Forum Election.

The election saw both major parties, the Gandoor Communist Party and the New Democratic Party, losing seats in the Forum, while both minor parties, the People's Party of Gandoor and the Gandoor Freedom Group, gained seats. The combined total of 53 seats won by both the People's Party and the Gandoor Freedom Group represents the largest number of seats ever held by minor parties following an election, ending the 58 year record that was held by the now-defunct Royal Monarchy Party, who won 37 seats in the 1970 Gandoor National Election.

The election was noted for its low turnout of 53.3%, a decrease of 7.1 percentage points from the previous Forum-only elections in 2020[2]. Of the results from each administrative division, Yontan Yon had a record low turnout of 39.8%, with only 3 million of the yon's 7.6 million registered voters casting a ballot in the election.

Following the election, analysts noted that while both the Communist and New Democratic Parties had a significant drop in votes compared to the 2024 election (with both having a near identical drop of around 18-19 million votes), the People's Party and the Gandoor Freedom Group both had much smaller drops votes, with the Gandoor Freedom Group only receiving about 40,000 less votes in 2028 than they did in 2024.

Footnotes

  1. Park is incumbent Prime Minister and Prime Ministers are not Members of the Forum
  2. The 2024 election was both a National and Forum Election, which always have higher turnout than Forum-only elections due
