On 15 August 2026, the Ministry of Education published its Educational Standards for the 2027 - 2028 School Year, which soon broke out into a controversy over claims of political indoctrination and the actions of Susan P. Jenson, Minister of Education, in response to the controversy.

Background

The Ministry of Education annually publishes educational standards for each upcoming school year during the month of August during the previous school year. The educational standards are the minimum standards that all schools are required to follow and meet, with the standards being made available to the public.

Controversy

After being published, it was discovered by the public that the 2027 - 2028 standards contained the following line:

'Students must become educated and accepting of the eventual socialization of the Gandoorese economy and the positive changes this will have on Gandoorese society.'

The Ministry of Education confirmed the existence of the line in the standards, which resulted in an immediate and massive controversy breaking out, with both the public and politicians criticizing the Ministry of Education for attempting to politically indoctrinate children. Some politicians, such as Member of the Forum Jean Washio, have urged the Ministry of Education to withdraw the standards and remove the controversial line.

Minister of Education's Response and Alleged Letter

Minister of Education Susan P. Jenson has thus far dismissed all criticisms, stating that the Ministry of Education will neither withdraw nor alter the educational standards. She also claimed that Prime Minister Park Sang-Hee sent her a letter where she directly ordered her to include the new standard and for it to be entrenched into the Gandoorese educational system.

Prime Minister Park and her office have denied all claims that she has any involvement in this controversy, with the Prime Minister's Office having encouraged Jenson to release the alleged letter from the Prime Minister.

The letter alleged by Susan P. Jenson to have been sent to her by Prime Minister Park Sang-Hee; the letter contains several errors which have led to the Prime Minister's Office to dismiss it as being a 'blatant forgery'

On 18 August, Jenson released the letter in which she claims that Prime Minister Park ordered her to include the educational standard, the letter reads as follows:

'Dear Ms Jenson,

As Prime Minister of this Democratic Republic, I am using my authority to require the following text be added to the Educational Standards of the Ministry of Education: "Students must become educated and accepting of the eventual socialization of the Gandoorese economy and the positive changes this will have on Gandoorese society."

Furthermore, it is of utmost importance that this become entrenched into our educational system and it is not to be removed or altered in any way, shape, or form. This shall be the beginning of a new generation of Gandoorese and all new generations must begin with the youth.

This text is to be considered an official order by the Prime Minister of Gandoor Park Sang Hee and its contents are to be considered confidential unless otherwise stated by myself or my office.

Yours, Prime Minister Park Sang Hee'

The Prime Minister's Office dismissed this letter as being a 'blatant forgery' citing, among other reasons, it lacking the hyphen in Park Sang-Hee's given name (instead writing her given name as Sang Hee) and for lacking the offical header used in all letters sent by Prime Ministers since Chiba Masato. They also encouraged Jenson to cease what she is attempting to do, apologize, and withdraw the educational standard.
